Full Itinerary

Day One – Arriving in Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport. We will spend the first evening relaxing at the accommodation in Johannesburg, discussing the itinerary, any last minute details or queries. This will also be an opportunity to check through any equipment you may have hired in South Africa.

Day Two – After breakfast we return to OR Tambo Airport to catch our connecting flight to Durban followed by a ground transfer to Zulu Nyala Private Game Reserve. We aim to arrive a little after lunch, allowing time to have a light bite to eat, relax, take a breath and then head out for our first game drive.

Day Three – An early morning game drive, followed by a mid-morning bush walk – enabling you to experience the African wilderness the way nature intended – on foot. Then returning to the lodge for lunch and a mid-day rest. We will head out for our second safari of the day towards the latter stages of the afternoon.

Day Four – Early morning game drive. Then, after breakfast, checkout and transfer to our next facility, Bayete Zulu which is situated on Zululand Rhino Reserve. It is an approximate 45 minute transfer, but we will aim to leave by 09h30 to get you there in plenty of time to check in to your new accommodation. You will have time to relax in your surroundings before heading out on a late afternoon game drive.

Day Five – We will head out to explore the vastness of Zululand Rhino Reserve for the duration of the day – taking a packed lunch, supplies and plenty of water. The day will be ours, spending valuable observation time with the species which we encounter, potentially including a little landscape photography. Depending on sightings, we may well be back at the lodge after dark.

Day Six – An early morning drive – returning to the lodge for breakfast and check out before catching our transfer to our final location; Zimanga Private Game Reserve. We aim to be there before 13h00 which will enable you to relax a little before we head out on our afternoon activity.

Activities on Zimanga Private Game Reserve will consist of vehicle based game drives and photography hide sessions. We will delegate activities thereby ensuring a fair-use policy for everyone. Game drives and the majority of hide sessions are between 3-4 hours duration. The overnight hide experience is between 15-18 hours with catering and rest facilities provided.

Day Seven – Either an early morning game drive or hide session. The afternoon activity will be dependant on the availability of Zimanga’s overnight hide. Part of the group will head out on an afternoon activity and the others will spend the night in the hide.

Day Eight – Either an early morning game drive or hide session (those spending the night in the hide may be excused from this morning activity if they choose!). Afternoon game drive or hide session for the people that spent the first night in the hide and the other group will head to the overnight hide.

Day Nine – Early morning activity, either a game drive or a hide session with the afternoon activity in the same format. The last evening we would like to invite you to a farewell group dinner.

Day Ten – Early morning drive before check out, ground transfer to Durban airport and catching connecting flights home from Johannesburg OR Tambo.

If you would like to extend your stay, we are more than happy to make recommendations and assist with the organisation of additional itineraries.
